Hi! My name is Gaby, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist in Portsmouth, New Hampshire with over 7 years of experience. Throughout my time as a therapist working with clients and in my own PhD research in Maternal and Child Health, I have found (and studied!) how major life transitions (i.e., moving through adolescence, transitioning to and from college, marriage, building a family, divorce, etc.) are often accompanied by periods of stress. Sometimes this stress is natural and just a normal part of growth, but other times this stress grows to the point of ultimately impacting an individual’s well-being and functioning and impacting their relationships. As a therapist, I strive to work with my clients to understand where they are at in a period of transition, how they are coping, and what additional supports, skills or resources can be drawn on to help them during this time. I tailor my approach to match the individual, couple, or family’s specific needs.
Accordingly, I believe that my clients know themselves and their relationships best, and I strive to meet them where they are and guide them on their journey to achieve their goals. Therapy itself can sometimes be a stressful transition, and so I work to create a space where clients can feel comfortable and safe to explore their emotions and develop new patterns of thinking, behaving, and interacting with others. I utilize growth-oriented approaches, and employ various therapeutic models, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, structural family therapy, narrative therapy, play therapy, and solution-focused therapy. My ultimate goal is for my clients to feel, and find, confidence as they navigate these seasons of change. I am licensed in New Hampshire and am currently seeing clients in person. I work with clients 8 years and older.
I have completed specialized and advanced training in working with clients experiencing:
- Parental accommodation of child anxiety
- Infertility
- Perinatal loss
- Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
