Hello! I am Sean and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I have a decade of experience working with individuals and families. Much of my practice has focused on issues of relational trauma from growing up in – or presently dealing with – family adversity or dysfunction. I am devoted to supporting people to create change in their lives, those who are seeking to develop greater resiliency by using methods of mindfulness and physical, emotional, and spiritual self-care. I use my knowledge of family systems to empower individuals to improve relationships within families and beyond.
I am committed to helping people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, or feelings of being stuck. I am trauma- and adversity-informed and I’ve been trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. I am knowledgeable about internal family systems and parts work that guides individuals toward the goal of mind-body connectivity and greater personal integrity. I center my practice on client strengths and talents in my individual therapy practice.
I believe strongly in the inherent dignity of all individuals and the power of positive self-expression. It’s my intent to create a safe space for individuals to develop their authentic selves. I work from a person-in-environment perspective. I’m experienced in and knowledgeable about cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and structural family therapy. I believe in the healing power of nature and in the power of developing one’s personal spirituality through a regular practice of mindfulness and gratitude. I value diversity and I feel fortunate to have served people from many different cultures and walks of life. I proudly support the LGBTQ community!
